Take the opportunity to get up close to the Scimitar light tank on loan from The Tank Museum and discover the story behind one of the British Army's most iconic armoured vehicles. Throughout the day, our guides will be leading regular tours of the Scimitar, exploring its design, capabilities and operational history. Learn how reconnaissance vehicles like the Scimitar were used on active service, the role they played on the battlefield, and what life was like for the crews who operated them.  Visitors will also have the chance to take photographs with the vehicle, offering a unique memento of the Scimitar's visit to Bodmin Keep before it returns to The Tank Museum.

Roman Armour and Military Transport Workshop  (Drop-in Session)
Join local archaeologist and finds expert Laura Miucci for a fascinating journey into the world of Roman warfare. Discover how Roman soldiers protected themselves on the battlefield, from the innovative testudo (tortoise shell) formation created using their shields to the armour, chariots and cavalry that helped build an empire.

Visitors will also have the chance to compare ancient military transport with modern armoured vehicles, including the Scimitar reconnaissance vehicle on loan from The Tank Museum, and explore how military technology has evolved over nearly 2,000 years.

Best of all, visitors will be invited to design, make and take home their very own scutum, the iconic curved Roman shield used in the famous tortoise formation.
