About OAK GeoSciences aka OAK T&T
We specialize in coastal/sea kayaking, river/whitewater kayaking and flatwater/lake canoeing Training and Touring. We pride ourselves in offering to our patrons the rare experience of using high performance kayaks and specialized paddling equipment for a luxury outdoor learning experience. In a safe learning environment, we teach outdoor leadership skills and human-powered action sports via kayak, on bicycle, and on foot, combined with Geosciences. = = = = = = TRAINING: Our coaching program introduces kids and adults, beginners to experienced outdoorsman, to the skills necessary to succeed in a variety of paddling environments from swamps and lakes (blackwater) to rivers (whitewater) and to sea kayaking, surfing, and rough water play (bluewater). GUIDING: We take our patrons on secluded water trails that are unfamiliar to most locals. We love sharing our experience acquired over two decades of paddling along Texas Gulf Coast. = = = = = = Constantin Platon is a highly accomplished Educator: currently certified as ACA L-3 Coastal/Sea Kayak Instructor, ACA L-3 River/Whitewater Kayak Instructor, ACA L-2 Trip Leader, holds a Master of Science in Geology and has been a College Professor for over a decade, undertook training with NOLS and Sierra International for Wilderness First Aid and is an USNTA certified tennis coach, among other things. = = = = = = OAK GeoSciences, LLC aka OAK T&T, aka Outdoor Adventures Kayaking Training and Touring, is an outdoor experiential and character developing program for lifetime benefits. Booking policy
We closely monitor the weather for thunderstorms, floods, heat waves, etc. We usually paddle in most weather conditions. We have local expertise and know the terrain well and can find an appropriate sheltered location to use if needed.
We can coach you on how to get prepared and how to best dress to fully experience the environment we will explore together. We paddle in the rain. If raining, don’t forget that half of your body is tucked away inside the boat! We provide dry bags for your valuables and electronics.
In really hot or cold weather, or because of lack of participants, we will make the call on whether to postpone or to cancel the event. We are reasonable and always want to work with our patrons to find the best solutions as we aim to reschedule for another date or place.
Late arrivals and no shows are not refundable. No shows really hurt us as we leave on the trailer very expensive gear, unattended for many hours, exposed to theft and vandalism.
Should we pull you out from the event after it has already begun due to uncooperative behavior, disorderly conduct, conditions above your skill or fitness level, changes in weather, or for any other reasons that we deem necessary for your safety and for the safety of the group, there will be no refunds and no transfers.
It's your responsibility to make us aware of any medical conditions that could prevent you from participating in the event. It's your responsibility to communicate with us well in advance about your body stature (weight, height, etc.) for us to bring you the appropriate gear size (kayaks, life jackets and paddles come in sizes).
We reserve the right to modify the course content and our scheduled itinerary based on participants fitness level, group dynamics, and other evolving circumstances, etc.
Depending on the event you signed up for and with how long in advance you contact us, we can entertain a substitute or transfer your booking fee to another party - please contact us ASAP.

If you need to cancel 4 weeks or more before the start of the event, we will refund you in full, except incurred 3rd party electronic booking fees.
If you need to cancel 2 - 4 weeks before the start of the event, we will refund 50%, except incurred 3rd party electronic booking fees.
If you need to cancel 2 weeks or less before the start of the event, there is no refund for any events.
