Overview
This December, the Witch’s Cave at Treak Cliff Cavern transforms into a breath taking underground wonderland for our Carols by Candlelight.
Surrounded by shimmering Blue John stone, glowing candlelight, and the natural acoustics of the cavern, you’ll be swept into an unforgettable festive experience. Raise your voice to your favourite Christmas carols as the cavern flickers, and comes alive with music.
A full guided tour is available before the Carols by Candlelight and will start at 1.00pm and is available at the cost of £5.00pp this can be booked as an add on to your ticket.

The carol singing lasts for approximately one hour, with hot mulled wine and mince pies served afterwards.
Children aged 4 and under are FREE and do not need to have tickets.
You can browse our shop for Christmas gifts with a choice Blue John jewellery and other items made in our onsite workshops, or choose rocks and minerals from all over the world!
Just a couple of things to bear in mind. Depending on the weather it can be very cold up here so please do dress for the weather and if its been raining leading up to your visit it may also be very wet in the cavern itself, check before you travel.
- Singing begins at 2.00pm.
- Full guided tour available at 1.00pm.
- Entrance opens at 1.45pm for those not on the guided tour.
- There is a steep climb up to the cavern entrance area, and further up again to the candlelit chamber.
- There is NO WHEELCHAIR ACCESS.
- Carol sheets are provided.
- This is a standing only event.
- Dogs are NOT allow in the cavern for the carol singing.
- Allow plenty of time to travel and park in Castleton, especially at weekends and school holidays.
- If you have specific questions, please call us before booking, as no refunds can be given, due to the limited number of total tickets available.
- NOTE Christmas Eve 24th December starts at 12 Noon. Please arrive for 11.00am for the guided tour or 11.45am for those not on the guided tour.
