Pottery Pumpkin Workshop - FULLY BOOKED

Pottery Pumpkin Workshop - FULLY BOOKED

Craft Your Own Autumn Pumpkin    Discover the joy of pottery and craft a unique pumpkin masterpiece!  Join us for a hands-on, three-hour workshop where you'll learn the art of pinch pot making and transform raw clay into a beautiful seasonal decoration. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced potter looking to run with your own inspiration, this workshop is perfect for you.  Vicky, our tutor, will lead you through the entire process step-by-step, providing live demonstrations at every stage. You will start by mastering the pinch pot technique to create two separate bowls, which we will then join together to form a hollow sphere—the perfect base for your pumpkin or gourd. From there, you can add personal touches like a natural stem and realistic leaves or get creative with intricate surface patterns. There are so many ways to make your pumpkin unique! You can add a pattern of holes to create a luminary that glows beautifully with a tealight inside or even carve a characterful face to turn it into a festive jack-o'-lantern. To bring your creation to life, you’ll have a choice of several vibrant glazes to finish your piece. This workshop is designed for both beginners and those building on their pottery experience.  All materials and equipment are provided, so you just need to bring along an apron if you wish to protect your clothes. Note that making a pinch pot is easier with shorter fingernails. Please Note: Pottery is a slow and careful process, so your handcrafted pumpkins cannot be taken home on the day. They will need time to dry thoroughly before being fired and glazed. Your finished pieces will be ready to collect from the venue at your convenience approximately two to three weeks after the workshop. Tickets include all-day garden entry and discount off lunch at Quackers Cafe

Autumn Trees Alcohol ink Workshop

Autumn Trees Alcohol ink Workshop

🍁Create vibrant Autumn Trees using Alcohol Ink Pens with Millie Moth Art    Love colour, nature, and working with new techniques?    Join Karen, aka Millie Moth, at venues across Derbyshire and the surrounding areas for a relaxed and inspiring creative session using alcohol ink brush pens     🎨 What’s included in the workshop:  Karen will guide you through her signature splashy ink technique using rich autumn colours. You will be blending inks with splashes of alcohol on smooth A5 Yupo paper to create your own stunning artwork. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out, this workshop is designed for all skill levels, with plenty of encouragement along the way. It’s a beautiful, freeing process — full of happy accidents! All materials are provided – just bring yourself and enjoy a session of creativity in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.      🍂You’ll come away from this workshop with your A5 artwork to frame at home, a new skill and understanding of alcohol inks so you can explore them further and a sense of calm and relaxation from this mindful session.      🧑🏻‍🎨 Meet the tutor: Karen Johnson is a local artist working from her home studio in Allestree, Derby, where she creates vibrant floral artwork for her small business, Millie Moth Art. Inspired by the joy she feels in her garden, Karen uses flowing alcohol inks to capture the colour, movement and essence of flowers and plant life. She regularly sells her colourful artwork as large canvas prints and cards at art trails and markets, and teaches her technique in workshops across Derbyshire and the surrounding areas.    ⚠️ A quick note about materials and safety from Millie Moth: This workshop is for adults only, and places are limited.   During the session, we’ll be using 91% isopropyl alcohol as part of the painting process. You’ll use it sparingly—dripping a few drops onto your artwork and occasionally spraying a fine mist over the surface. Some people notice the smell (though I’m completely used to it now!), and I’ll do my best to keep the room well ventilated if needed.   There’s also a bit of gentle blowing through a straw involved—just something to keep in mind if you’re prone to breathlessness or lightheadedness. If that sounds tricky, I can provide a small hand-pump blower as an alternative. While this technique generally isn’t messy, alcohol inks can stain clothing. They’re not harmful if they get on your skin—I’ve had more than my fair share of inky fingers over the years! An apron or old top is a good idea, just in case  ❤️A 10% off voucher for Quackers is included, if you wish to stay and enjoy lunch afterwards.  The ticket price also includes all-day garden access so you can make a day of it and take a stroll around the gardens in the afternoon (gardens close at 4pm).
