About Ed Dunneback & Girls Farm Market

It all started nearly 100 years ago. Edwin Dunneback purchased the farm in Alpine Township in 1925. He farmed 170 acres of apples, peaches, corn, hay and a herd of dairy cows. Edwin had five sons & a daughter. His sons, Edward and Joseph, continued on with the farm adding strawberries & the cold storage, now known as our farm market. Through the 30s, 40s, 50s & 60s, the barn hosted barn dances, weddings, farm tours & hayrides. Edward met his wife Helen at one of these very barn dances! Ed & Helen went on to have 3 children Pamela, Michael & Suanne. In 1969, the family was forever changed when our beloved son, brother & uncle was killed in action in the Vietnam War. It was at this time, when Ed couldn’t bear the & Sons on the front of the barn that Pam climbed up and changed it to & Girls. While this tragedy caused irreparable damage to the family and farm, the family pulled together and continued on farming. Suanne moved back to the farm working with her dad every day. She has run the farm for the past 40 years. Suanne & her husband have two daughters, Stephanie & Sarah. We all live on the farm working to carry on the family tradition started 4 generations ago! We are farming the same ground offering u-pick asparagus, strawberries, sweet & tart cherries, apples & pumpkins. The same barn is now home to our fresh produce market, gift shoppe, bakery, kitchen & tap room! Come spend the day with us, bring your family & friends and start your own family tradition with the Dunneback Girls!
