A Mountain Skills course is a great opportunity to learn more about looking after yourself in steep rocky places, where the scenery is breathtaking and weather changeable.

Connect with others and the great outdoors
The mountains of the UK and Ireland provide a fantastic opportunity to connect with the natural world and the majority of both days will be spent immersed in a mountain landscape. Mountain Skills courses are always quite small so there will be plenty of time to get to know everyone as you all learn together.
Build confidence to explore
Steep, rocky mountains can be intimidating places and it’s common for people to have experienced getting lost or finding themselves uncomfortable on rough ground, which can impact the confidence they have to go beyond the routes they already know. A Mountain Skills course is designed to give you the tools to explore with confidence as you develop your movement skills and learn more about risk management.
Learn essential skills
It’s common in the UK and Ireland for paths to start near a road and then magically peter out, just when the terrain gets a bit more challenging and you’re further from help.
That’s why our Mountain Skills courses include plenty of opportunities to practise navigation and route finding skills as part of a journey through the mountains. By the end of the course you’ll know how to avoid getting lost and how to look after yourself in challenging conditions.
