Overview
Step into the mystical realm of ancient Highland tales, where history merges seamlessly with the majestic landscape. Immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of Highland folklore, blending timeless legends with historical accounts.
For this walk through the Highlands' past, we will need to walk a small part of the walk along a road, before turning onto a trail through a forested area and slowly emerging above the trees, gaining more and more sights towards the village of newtonmore and Glen Banchor. This guided walk will delve into the significance of oral tradition in the Highlands, where every story is intricately woven into the fabric of our landscapes. You will be able to experience the magic of bardic tales amidst the natural beauty of our surroundings, while contemplating the essence of Dùthchas – the Gaelic notion of belonging.

Group Size: The pricing for this Lore & History Walk is based on group bookings, with a flat fee regardless of the number of participants, accommodating from 1 to 12 individuals. Whether you're booking for one person or a full group, the price remains unchanged and you only need to check out one ticket.
Children: Children are very welcome to join. Please make sure, they are comfortable with the physical demands of the walk and are accompanied by an adult at all times. At check-out, you will have the option to enter the ages of any children within your group, which will help me in adapting the stories accordingly.
If you cannot find a walk that is suitable for you children, have any concerns, would like a shorter version of a particular walk etc. just get in touch. Adjustment and bespoke tours are no problem at all and i would love to plan with you.
Dogs: Friendly dogs are very welcome on these walks and they will likely be in the company of our Landscape Lore dogs, who usually come along on the adventure (you can meet them here). To protect our environment, ground-nesting birds and life stock, it will be important that all dogs will be under close control of their owners.
If you prefer a dog-free walk, you can simply tick the box for 'dog free walk' upon booking and I will make sure that our pups stay cosy at home.
.
Duration: approximately 3.5 hours
Start time: Please choose the most convenient date and time for you from the booking options.
.
Meeting location: Newtonmore, more details will be provided upon booking, once your very personal tour is ready.
Acessibility Information: This walk will cover approximately 5km, with a ascent of 300m, some of which is very steep. The steepest section will require very secure footing and may include some scrambling, particularly in wet conditions. The trail will lead us over varied terrain including narrow paths and walking alongside a road for the first and last bit of the walk.
At an average fitness level, this walk would take about 2.5 hours, however, I always plan with some extra time, as we will be taking breaks to chat, take photos, share stories and have some snacks.
.
In case of severe weather conditions, I reserve the right to change the route of the walk or cancel the event. In this case you will receive a full refund of course.
