Stories on top of the world – Glen Feshie, Lore & History Walk (7-8 hours, 16km, 850m ascent) Private Group Booking

Overview

Join me on one of my all time favourite walks, with absolutely superb views from an extremly dramatic summit.  Embark on a journey of exploration, as we uncover the delicate art of understanding our environment, while climbing this munro.
Going up, we will pass through some lovely pinewoods before passing the tree line and gaining more and more views on the upper slopes. Plenty of opportunity, to immerse yourself in the timeless narratives that echo through the ages, enriching your appreciation of the land's profound history and natural allure through tales, poetry, and historical insights. On this walk, we will delve into the significance of oral tradition in the Highlands, where stories intertwine with the very essence of the landscape. Experience the magic of bardic tales in their authentic environment, surrounded by captivating scenery with vast broken crags and plunging cliffs, down to a well sheltered loch; views that inspired generations of storytellers. Reflect on the concept of Dùthchas and its enduring significance in today's world, understanding the enduring relevance of these narratives.
.
On this walk, you will hear stories and have a chance to share your own. You will also be encouraged to participate in a dialogue about our understanding of landscape, culture, and belonging.
There will be ample opportunities to express your understanding of the land in creative photography.

Dogs: Friendly dogs are also very welcome on these walks and they will likely be in the company of our Landscape Lore dogs (you can meet them here), who usually come along on the adventure. To protect our environment, ground-nesting birds and life stock, it will be important that all dogs will be under close control of their owners.
If you prefer a dog-free walk, you can simply tick the box for 'dog free walk' upon booking and I will make sure that our pups stay cosy at home.

Acessibility Information: This walk will cover approximately 16 km with breaks. This includes a steep ascent at times, totalling to 850m.  The path is pretty clear and well maintained, but very steep in parts. Once the steepest part is over, the terrain higher up is much easier going.
At an average fitness level, this walks would take about 5.5 hours, however, I always plan with some extra time, as we will be taking breaks to chat, take photos, share stories and have some snacks.
.
In case of severe weather conditions, I reserve the right to change the route of the walk or cancel the event. In this case you will receive a full refund of course.
