With their striking silver manes and expressive faces, Lion-tailed Macaques are one of the most charismatic primates at Camperdown Wildlife Centre. Our lively troop includes Guinness, the dominant male, six spirited females, and young Pip—his energetic son who’s always on the move.
Native to the Western Ghats of India, these endangered monkeys spend most of their time high in the trees, using their cheek pouches to store food and their complex vocalisations to communicate. With only 1% of their original habitat remaining, they face serious threats from deforestation and habitat loss.
