This event incorporates taught sessions in the areas of Safe use of cutting tools and wood carving, shelter in the outdoors, fire lighting skills including fire by friction,Safe methods of collecting and purifying water,  foraging and aspects of navigation, primarily finding direction without a compass. Let us bring you back to the days where we, as humans, had to forage and source our own food! The Wild Food Weekend is all about exploring our natural surroundings for wild food provided by our very own countryside. There is a big emphasis on foraging, game preparation and using what nature can supply to feed ourselves in our natural environment.  The weekend will be led by one of our experienced instructors who will demonstrate and guide you through this informative and hands on event. You will be getting lots of practical guidance with food collection, preparation and cooking techniques Many people are unaware of the abundance of edible resources which surround us. This course has been designed to make you aware of some of these great edibles and to learn what to avoid! This course is open for anyone looking to get back to nature for an enjoyable, interesting and unforgettable outdoor experience. Over the Wild Food Weekend we will be looking at the following:   Making your own foraging sticks  How to obtain food from the wild  The legal aspects and Golden rules of Foraging  We will teach you how to prepare game in the form of (fish, bird, or mammal)  Food preservation  Bread making  Butchering of a deer  How to make your own Jerky  Campfire cooking techniques  Making teas, Alcohol infusions and Cordials  Friday evening will be spent setting up camp , covering cutting tool safety, making foraging sticks and relaxing in our beautiful woodland  On Saturday, as a group we will be foraging , collecting, preparing and cooking all of our own food for the weekend. We will cover several different methods of campfire cooking using fire pits, a Yukon stove and roasting techniques. You will also get the chance to have a go at making your own biltong (jerky). Our Survival, Bushcraft and Wilderness Skills Weekend is an action packed event covering many sessions that will leave you feeling more confident in your future outdoor adventures. This course is tailored for all abilities and experiences. We have planned this event so you get the most out of your weekend, learn some essential skills and truly enjoy your experience.  Here is what you will get up to:  Knife safety and cutting techniques  How to use a tarp  Game preparation- Bird & Mammal  Making damper bread  Shelter building  Traps, snares and the legal aspects  Cordage and knots  Foraging- An insight into edible, medicinal and poisonous flora  Signalling and rescue  Knife law and maintenance  Natural navigation and moving on  Finding and making safe water  Fire lighting All of the sessions that we teach over the duration of this event will be delivered by an experienced member of our team. The sessions will be both informative and hands-on. As action packed as this course is you will have some down time to do as you wish; perhaps to practice some of your newly found skills or to just sit back and take in the surrounding scenery and wildlife. Evening meals will usually consist of either of the following:  Friday: Vegetable stir-fry and noodles. You will have the option to add the pigeon previously prepared during the game prep session to your meal.  Saturday: Rabbit stew and handmade flat breads. The Survival Challenge

This is as close as we can let you get to a real life remote survival situation. This event will take most people out of their comfort zones but it will also be rewarding, confidence boosting and a priceless life experience.  You will be stripped of all your outdoor equipment and tested with the minimum essential kit. You will be responsible for making your own shelter, sourcing water, finding food and making fire. You will be guided and observed by an experienced member of our professional team to ensure you are safe at every moment with us. This event will replicate the essential routine skills involved in a remote emergency or survival situation, thrown in with this will be some challenging tasks.   The survival challenge would be the perfect follow up course for anyone who has done our survival bushcraft and wilderness skills weekend or anyone who wants to push their skills to the limit. Joining us on our Coastal Survival and Bushcraft Skills Weekend will leave you with a greater understanding and knowledge of the British Isles coastline. The coastal regions of the British Isles can be a bountiful resource of wild food and a great place to spend free time, however, they also present many dangers. This event will be highly informative with lots of hands on skills practice. We will be actively foraging and fishing to acquire food to accompany our evening meals. Course participants will be involved in all the sessions delivered As busy as this event is, we always try to give course participants some free down time to relax and take in the scenery.
