Absolute Montenegro: 7 Day Kayaking Adventure

Absolute Montenegro: 7 Day Kayaking Adventure

Stunning Montenegro, seldom visited and largely unspoilt in its natural splendour, is found nestled deep within the heart of the Balkans Peninsula. Translated simply to mean 'Black Mountains', its name stands as a stark contrast to the diverse and fiercely rich landscapes that form this country, boasting some of the finest and most adventurous white water to be found within the Balkans.  Our expeditions to Montenegro are ideally suited to the grade 3 paddler looking to meet like-minded people, paddle new water and truly embark on an unparalleled adventure. The primary focus of this expedition is paddling the River Morača, Komarnica and Lim. Along with a 3-day descent of the River Tara Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world. The rivers range from grade 2 to 3+, providing the perfect white water training ground to push your paddling in a new and dynamic environment. These expeditions are run in small groups of 4 to 8 people where you can experience the benefits of peer learning and shared experiences, but the emphasis is still very much on you. We provide this expedition for both individual and closed group bookings, please get in touch if you are interested in doing so. Day 1 You and your group will be met at Dubrovnik airport in Cilipi. We will travel from here to Herzec Novi, a Montenegrin coastal town where we'll stop for lunch. At this point, we will get to know each other, introduce you to our team and go over the plan for the week. Being located on the seafront, you'll have a chance to go for a dip to refresh from your long travels. From here we'll travel to Hostel Izvor on the bank of the River Morača just outside of the country's capital of Podgorica. Over the course of the evening, we'll conduct an equipment check to make sure everybody is adequately prepared for a week's worth of paddling. Day 2 This day is all about suiting up and getting out there for a day paddling. The first section of the Morača is short and leads to a get out just downriver from our accommodation. It provides a fantastic warm-up for the week to come; a mixture of features requiring technical moves to wave trains and play holes. Day 3 Over the course of the next few days, we’ll paddle the River Tara nestled at the bottom of the Tara Canyon. Truly an incredible sight and 4,300 ft at its deepest point, it contains some truly astonishing white water and provides some incredible experiences. We’ll be primarily based at Divlja Rijeka, a vibrant and pleasant raft camp on the banks of the River Tara on the Bosnian Herzegovina side, just a short 5-minute drive from the border. Such is the size and length of the Tara River, at the end of day one we’ll stay at Radovan Luka, a national park camp deep inside the canyon, with a shuttle bringing the groups equipment down for the night and moving it on to the next camp in the morning. All logistics are covered by us leaving you to paddle, enjoy your surroundings and relax. Day 4 More fantastic paddling on the River Tara. Day 5 The final day on the River Tara. Day 6 On this day we will paddle the River Lim situated in the East of the country. The Lim flows from deep within Montenegro across the border with its neighbour Serbia. The Lim possess a number of sections of river ranging from grade 2 to 4, with something to suit all paddlers and group requirements.   Day 7 Day 7 will see us paddle the River Komarnica, an astonishingly beautiful grade 2+ tributary of the River Piva. Only paddled for the first time 5/6 years ago, it flows through deep winding gorges, between mountains, uninhabitable and inaccessible areas. It features a 2km walk consisting of a steep winding mountain track, the revelation upon reaching the bottom and knowing you’ll be one of the very few British paddlers to ever set foot upon its banks is rather special. Once we have reached the end of the river, we emerge into Piva Lake where a boat lays in waiting for us, proceeding to enjoy a 2-hour cruise across the lake with a BBQ, drinks and an incredible view. That evening we’ll stay at the village of Izlazak looking across to Piva Lake.   Inclusions Accommodation - Comfort Traditional Montenegrin accommodation   What's Included 🚆 Transportation - Minibus (flights not included) 🍴 Food - Traditional Montenegrin food 🧰 Equipment - We provide the Kayaks, all safety equipment and qualified guides   What you'll need 📋 Other - Contact us if you would like to rent any other equipment and we can look to arrange it. Learn to ski or snowboard in Slovenia with a renowned skiing instructor. By night, retreat to your luxury headquarters, often referenced as one of the most beautiful resorts in Slovenia. Those who haven't discovered skiing or snowboarding often wonder what the attraction is; the cold weather, the falls/bruises, hurtling at high speeds down mountains with obstacles such as trees, crevasses and other people to circumnavigate. Deterred by the bulky boots, heavy equipment, and often, how to get started!  Our 'Introduction to Skiing' course takes all this into account, offering both a personal and enjoyable journey helping you take your first steps and laying the foundations for the confident shredder you'll become! Our course is run by the former Slovene National Team Member and Director for SK Velenje David De-Costa, who will oversee all the instruction and coaching.
