Join us this Halloween for a cosy and atmospheric evening of spooky stories, seasonal cocktails and Forest spirits at the historic Cat & Fiddle, high on the moors of the Peak District. We’re putting a Halloween twist on our Cocktail Club, combining three delicious full-size cocktails with three short storytelling sessions inspired by the history, folklore and ghostly tales of the Cat & Fiddle and its surroundings. Throughout the evening, you’ll enjoy a selection of seasonal cocktails and tasty snacks, with our storyteller bringing the atmosphere to life between each round with tales from the darker side of the Peak District. The bar will remain open throughout the evening, so there’s plenty of time to relax, chat and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Cat & Fiddle. Fancy dress widely encouraged! Expect candlelight, autumn atmosphere, great drinks and stories of ghosts, legends, travellers and mysterious happenings from the moors.

Join us at The UK’s highest altitude distillery at The Cat & Fiddle for a fun, filled festive evening to get you into the Christmas spirit.  Kicking off from 6pm, on arrival, you will be greeted with a refreshing Forest Gin & Fever-tree tonic. You will then enjoy a bespoke wreath making workshop with our friends from Sutton Village Florist who will be guiding you every step of the way. Greenery and tools will be supplied so bring nothing but yourselves! During the course of the night our bar weasels will keep you refreshed with a warm festive cocktail (Boozy Hot Choc, or Winter Warmer) and a tasty mince pie.  Drinks will be available to purchase throughout the evening and of course our Distillery bar fire will be burning away keeping us warm & cosy. We will aim to finish wreath making at 8:30pm with the bar staying open until 9pm. Our Distillery shop will also be open so you can get some Christmas shopping underway! Spaces are very limited so book now to avoid missing out! Please note that we are in a remote location so a designated driver or some forward planning will be required. Join us on Friday 4th December at 7.30pm (Doors open at 6.30) for The Forest Spirit of Christmas at the Cat and Fiddle - home of the UK’s highest altitude distillery. This much-loved festive evening is back, and promises to be as magical as ever. Enjoy the wonderful Bollington Brass Band performing all your favourite Christmas classics live, while you soak up the atmosphere by the roaring fire in our cosy bar. It’s the perfect chance to pick up some last-minute gifts in our distillery shop, enjoy the warm festive cheer, and spend time with friends and family. The shop will be open to everyone but, if you’d like a table in the bar, booking is essential. Tickets are £10 per person, which includes a festive drink and a mince pie. Previous years have been a huge hit, so book early to avoid missing out on this special evening of music, merriment, and Christmas spirit high up in the hills. Dogs and families welcome.

One of our team will talk you through how our spirits came to be and then walk you through a guided tasting of our exceptional Forest Spirits. Step into the story of English whisky with our immersive Forest Whisky Single Malt Experience, set within the atmospheric, 200-year-old, Cat & Fiddle. Your journey begins in our cosy tour room, where you’ll be welcomed with a Forest Whisky Old Fashioned. Sink into sofas, wrap up in blankets, and take in sweeping views across the wild moorlands of the Peak District.  From here, we delve into the world of whisky, and what makes our approach at Forest Distillery so distinctive. This is a hands-on, flavour-led experience designed for both curious newcomers and seasoned whisky drinkers. Guided by a Forest Weasel, you’ll explore the full life-cycle of our whisky, from grain to glass. Taste your way through a curated selection including our house blend (Masters Award Winner - World Whisky Masters, 2023) and our latest limited edition blend. You will also try our new make spirit (Baby Weasel) and our young single malt, gaining insight into the unique processes and ingredients we use.  You’ll also step inside our working distillery to learn how our spirit is created using local barley, wild yeast, and pure Peak District water. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the UK's highest whisky still! The experience culminates in our historic maturation cellars, cool, dark and earthy, where our casks quietly shape each drop of Forest Whisky. Down here, you’ll sample our exceptional 5-year-old single malt, an extremely rare and limited release that captures the essence of our landscape and craftsmanship. Learn about the origin of the wood used for its casks and presentation boxes. A two hour visit to the UK's highest altitude distillery! Inclusive of two drinks, two neat samples, gin talk and tour of the distillery.   About this event: Forest Gin & tonic on arrival. History of gin - One of our Weasels will talk you through the remarkable rise, fall, and rise again of the spirit! Learn about our company history and the story behind our spirits. A short break for your second drink to be served. Learn all about our company's unique artwork and bottles. Discover how we create our award-winning gin with an introduction to the botanicals and the process we use to distil. Enjoy a neat tasting experience of both of the gins that we produce. We will then saunter over to the distillery to show you the equipment we have in the barn. Book a table for up to 8 people in our fantastic 200-year-old bar.  Cosy up in an armchair and browse our extensive drinks menu.  We also have a small selection of nibbles to choose from - nuts, olives, crisps, chorizo etc. but we do not serve food.   Dogs and children are welcome in our bar and shop. The cost of your table reservation, £5 per person, will be deducted off your bill at the end. Please note we do last orders in the bar at 4:30 and close the building at 5:00. You can also browse our distillery shop packed with our spirits and stunning gifts to take away. Car parking is available, please be aware that our car park has a Smart Parking system in place so please enter your vehicle registration into the iPad provided.
