Discover the wonders of the universe at our interactive space event as part of the Exmoor Dark Skies Festival 2026, with Jo and Pete from Spaces Detectives and featuring various immersive activities! The Space Detectives lead a presentation to set the space scene, before taking you on journey through the stars as you enter their brand-new planetarium dome, then leave Earth behind as you use VR Showtime headsets to go on a virtual voyage into space. Lastly, if the skies are clear, you are invited to star gaze from our Nectar Gardens using high end “Go To” telescopes, with astronomers on hand to guide and assist. As well as all of this, you can take a browse of the astrophotography gallery with opportunity to speak with astronomers. It is set to be a packed, unforgettable experience guaranteed to leave you in awe! To fuel your journey into space, you will begin the evening with a seasonal supper utilising homegrown garden produce from our Kitchen Garden and served in our Nectary Restaurant. About Space Detectives: Jo Richardson, the founder and owner of ‘Space Detectives’, is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society as well as one of the current 6 UK Space Ambassadors working on behalf of the European Space Education Office. She works alongside her husband Pete, who is an internationally acclaimed Astrophotographer and Telescope Maker. Supporting them at large events are their team of astronomers who are all keen to share their love and passion for all things “Space” with the wider public. Jo is the resident astronomer for Exmoor National Park Dark Sky Reserve, as well as an advisor to other National Parks, such as the Yorkshire Dales, Cranborne Chase and the North York Moors. Her long-held belief is that if she can inspire just one person to “look up” and see what lies beyond the remit of our home planet, then her job has been wholly worthwhile. Do you love the beautiful, rich tones and textures of Autumn? Celebrate the season by crafting a beautiful bespoke wreath to decorate your home! You will learn how to make a wreath from start to finish in this creative workshop, using traditional methods, seasonal foliage and trims. Our head gardener Rebecca will give you an introduction to wreath making, the techniques, preparation of your wreath base, selecting and applying your foliage. Starting with a re-usable wire ring with a straw base, you will use a selection of seasonal flora such as dried flowers, grasses, seed pods and berries to create a beautiful, bespoke, autumnal wreath. There will be plenty of opportunity to add unique touches, ask questions and get some floristry hints and tips. Your wreath is yours to keep and take home at the end of the workshop and will be perfect for displaying indoors, bringing those warm autumnal colours inside to brighten up your home.  After a morning spent in a fun and supportive learning atmosphere, with hot drinks and delicious cake provided, you will leave the workshop with …  knowledge of wreath making techniques tips on growing, harvesting and drying flowers and seasonal foliage  practical experience of working with dried and seasonal materials  inspiration on how to apply and layer different colours, tones and textures  your own beautiful autumn wreath to take home, and some creative fulfilment! Join us in this fun and friendly crafting workshop to create your own dipped resin Christmas flower centrepiece, using wire, florists tape and resin.  With the addition of a beautiful bow and some hoops, this mistletoe sprig makes an amazing Christmas decoration. Enjoy one of our simpler workshops creating sprigs of leaves with their gorgeous white berries. Join us in this fun and friendly crafting workshop to create your own dipped resin flowers, using wire, florists tape and resin. All materials are provided to craft a beautiful resin snowdrops, you just need to bring your creativity with you! At the end of the session you will have lovely and lifelike flowers to show off to family and friends and display in your home. If you have a passion for arts and crafts and enjoy learning a new skill, this could be for you! In this relaxed and friendly workshop you will learn the intermediate willow weaving techniques and finishings to create a traditional stake and strand round basket, including 3 rod wale, French rand and 1/1 rod borders, using locally grown willow. This is a perfect next step in learning the art of willow weaving and is ideal for those who have completed our beginners basket workshop or those who already have a familiarity with weaving. The intermediate workshop will hone your weaving skills with more focus on precision and technique in order to achieve a flawless finish. If so, this could be for you!  Spend a morning learning a new skill in this hands-on 3 hour introduction workshop. You will learn the basic principles of how to build a traditional dry stone wall and/or retaining wall, using local stone, and how it will benefit wildlife and support a range of creatures and insects. Dry stone walling is a positive and calming outdoors experience, and this workshop offers a great opportunity to learn a new skill, in the fresh air, surrounded by nature and wildlife. The course covers basic construction techniques for a Devon dry stone wall. You can work at your own pace, with plenty of opportunity for discussion, then stand back and admire your craftsmanship and enjoy a slice of cake and a hot drink for your hard work!  The workshop price includes full entry into Quince Honey Farm on the day of the workshop, so why not take the opportunity to join our tours and activities and find out about the wonderful world of honeybees too. You will be kitted out for the session and be taken to a hive of honeybees and helped to open the hive, handle the bees, and answer any questions you may have about basic beekeeping. We guarantee an experience you will remember forever… you never forget the first time you open a hive!  Price: Each session costs £135 for no more than 4 individuals and includes 1 hour dedicated time with a member of our Education Team for your group AND entry into the Full Attraction at Quince Honey Farm on the same day (open from 9:30am).  When:  Sessions are available daily at 9:30am, until September.
