Come and discover, create and get back to nature on one of our children's fun activities every Wednesday throughout the summer holidays. All activities are most suitable for ages 3 - 7, with two sessions to choose from each day. Please see below for the full details of which session is on each day. Each session is £3.50 per child. Bookings close 48 hours before the start of each session. Wednesday 29th July - Bug Hunt Adventure (10.00am - 11.00am or 12.30pm - 1.30pm) Get ready to explore the tiny, fascinating world beneath our feet at Old Station Tintern! Join us for a fun‑filled Bug Hunt, where we’ll search high and low for mini‑beasts hiding. Pop on your wellies, bring your sense of adventure, and let’s see what amazing creatures we can find!   Wednesday 5th August - Creative Crafts  (10.00am - 11.00am or 12.30pm - 1.30pm) Let your creativity run wild in this nature‑inspired craft session! Unleash your creativity and create your very own photo frame then add a sprinkle of magic by making a nature wand, perfect for imaginative play. Get a little mucky and a lot more creative!  Wednesday 12th August - Garden Party Craft Session!  (10.00am - 11.00am or 12.30pm - 1.30pm) Celebrate the magic of summer with us at our craft session themed around butterflies, bees, and all things blooming! Get creative as you make your own bunting and a nature‑inspired headband, perfect for summer celebrations and garden adventures. Wednesday 19th August - Under the Sea Craft Session  (10.00am - 11.00am or 12.30pm - 1.30pm) Where our underwater imaginations come to life! Let’s get messy at underwater creative week! Dive in and make your very own octopus mask and create a colourful and imaginative underwater scene! We can’t wait to see what wonderful creations you dream up. Come and join us at Caldicot Castle for a unique insight into the fascinating and chequered history of one of Wales most beautiful castles.  (Please note that due to popularity, tickets must be booked beforehand.)  Our tour is led by local expert Pauline Hayward who has spent years studying the castle and its remarkable family history. Pauline will take you on a journey into the past and share with you some of the fascinating facts that are unique to Caldicot Castle. The tour will also point out some of the most interesting features in the castle buildings and may even tell you where you are most likely to see our resident ghost!  Duration: Tour lasts approx 1 hour  When: The last Wednesday of every month (with the exception of events, then tour will be arranged for the week prior), at 2pm.  Where : Tours start under the marquee within the castle grounds.  Cost: £3.50 per person, this includes a hot or cold drink from the tearoom. (Does not include alcoholic beverages) Suitable for: Adults and children of school age  when accompanied by adults. The tour is on flat ground (no steps) but there are some grass areas and chippings in parts.

Summer Of Fun Little Explorer’s Club Nature Trail

This summer let your children become Little Explorer's on Friday's during school holidays with a one hour exploration session around Caldicot Castle Country Park. Tickets MUST be booked in advance (Adults do not need to book). Start point: Caldicot Castle drawbridge On the nature trail there'll be bug hunting, bird & wildlife spotting, exploring and bush tucker talk. Each child will be provided with a Little Explorer’s Club gilet and hat, and a bag with explorer’s equipment (all returnable at the end of the session) Each child will receive a printed tick sheet for bugs, birds and wildlife to record what they have seen and for them to take away.   At the end of each session, each child will receive a personalised ‘Summer Of Fun Little Explorer’s Club’ certificate of participation and a 3D bug sticker sheet to take away as mementos. Dates & Times Planned sessions will run on Fridays at 11am (during school holidays), if the 11am session is fully booked we may add additional slots.  Available dates may be subject to change.
