Bodmin Moor Tour
Visiting legendary Bodmin Moor is stepping back in time. The moor is full of stories and history. Remember Daphne Du Maurier and her novel Jamaica Inn, set on out Bodmin Moor? There is a darkness to the moor and a brooding sense of what has gone before. Powerful spirits and energies seem to hold on here. The moor is littered with stone circles and other ancient monuments. Christian churches have made inroads, but holy wells and sacred sites are also pagan territory. The seemingly natural landscape is bleak and beautiful, cleared of trees in ancient times and now home to only a few human souls. Don't worry I will get back to civilization at the end of the day. ItineraryI will drive you to a variety of sites on and around Bodmin Moor. Sometimes we visit up to ten different locations. It depends on what you want to see and how much time you want to spend at each place. I do have my usual routes and favourite places to recommend to you. We definitely need to see the granite tors, at least one stone circle, one ancient Christian site, get a good pub lunch and visit a tin mine. If you are open-minded or a believer in 'earth energies' we can try to pick up on those too. We will probably see livestock out on the moor, sheep, cattle and ponies. Hopefully, all looking healthy. We may see wildlife too. Bodmin Moor is privately owned and access to members of the public is allowed. In some locations there are restrictions on me walking with you. But I'm never far away! There are usually no entry fees on this tour. If you would like to visit Davidstow Museum or Carnglaze Caverns you may add them as an optional extra. If you prefer a cafe or a picnic lunch please let me know. ย Inclusions What's Included ๐ Transportation - Land Rover Defender for up to 6 passengers, plus driver/guide ๐ด Food - Lunch is optional extra ๐ฅค Drink - Drinks are optional extra ย What you'll need ๐งค Warm Clothing - Bring layers of clothing because the weather can often change on the moor. โ๏ธ Waterproofs - Take a light raincoat with you, even in the summer! ๐ด Food - Bring a snack in case you feel tired before lunch. Especially if you have low blood sugar or skip breakfast ๐ฅค Drink - It's a good idea to carry a bottle of water ๐ Other - Wear good shoes or boots for walking on wet grass. You can wear trainers or wellington boots but they are not suitable for all conditions.
The Far West Tour
A tour of the very far west of Cornwall. The far west is full of light and beauty and there are so many places to see. So this tour offers you some highlights of the area adapted to your preferences. We can spend time at St Michael's Mount and St Ives. Or we can make fleeting visits to them and concentrate on the archaeology of the area, stone circles, prehistoric buildings and more. We can take short walks to the quieter sites. But many popular sites are very accessible and not far from the road. On this tour I like to visit Botallack and Levant mines on the cliff tops above the sea. Because they are photogenic, they are featured in Poldark and because the Land Rover loves the track between them! We can also pop to one of the beaches in Poldark filming if you like. The Minack theatre is another popular stop. We can see Land's End or maybe Cape Cornwall. And there are lots of great pub and lunch options. This is a big day out and I will design the tour around your preferences and priorities for 'must see'. ย Inclusions What's Included ๐ Transportation - Land Rover Defender
