Overview
Times: 10am-12pm
Dates: Tuesday 27 October 2026
Step into the world of a real bird keeper and discover what it takes to care for magnificent birds of prey.
Our Junior Bird Keeper Experience is a hands-on workshop designed for children aged 6–12 who are interested in birds and want to learn what life is really like behind the scenes at The Bird of Prey Project.
Work alongside our experienced bird keepers and take part in genuine day-to-day keeper tasks. Learn all about the birds who live at the centre and how we take care of them in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment.
During this experience, the Junior Bird Keepers will:
- Fly a bird of prey under expert supervision
- Help clean and prepare an aviary
- Create enrichment parcels and deliver it to one of our birds, learning how to encourage natural behaviours
- Learn about bird care, diets, training, and welfare
- Ask questions and hear first-hand what it’s like to work with birds of prey
This hands-on experience is designed to inspire the next generation of bird-keepers, conservationists, and wildlife professionals. Led by knowledgeable, experienced staff, it will be a memorable, confidence-building experience for curious young minds.
This will be a small group activity to ensure safety, learning and engagement, and therefore booking is essential.
