Overview
Welcome to scootys this is a great starter place for your pony mad child. We run fun but safe riding lessons for the younger ones on leadrein.
When you book a ticket this is either a lesson, or ride and groom, you can tell us on the day what you want.
If the child Is having a lesson, they will ride the pony for the full session ( no grooming pony)
If the child is having a ride and groom, they will have a short mini ride/ lesson, and then fuss and groom the pony.
Troughout the winter cold months and the bad weather, we are in the indoor arena with lighting, also there is an area for parents to watch there child/ children ride. In the nicer weather occasionally we will use the outdoor arena aswell.
This is a great way to learn the basics and also meet a small group of like minded children, learning what they enjoy, and to gain good knowledge from our fabulous team at scooty wootys.
Each child will have there own pony and an experienced handler to help them learn to ride on leadrein with no pressure. We work to each individual with the pace they are happy working at.
Ages
We are a lovely pony club which over the years has helped so many young riders get a good start to learning the basics to riding and to gain confidence around and on the pony in a fun enjoyable way.
In these lessons the children will get to learn about the ponies ,tack equipment used etc I feel this is so important for children to learn as there is no point children knowing how to ride but can't tack the pony up properly.
The sessions will include basics of mounting on pony postioning on pony walking/ trotting and getting to to know different commands control etc we will also do fun activities in and out of cones and little activities to make it fun. We will also get the children riding no stirrups also bareback riding this will be great for there balance and seat and gain core strength aswell in some of the lessons.

If we feel in time your child is getting more experienced at riding, we will introduce putting them on a long lunge line and the possibility of taking the leadrein away and the handler will walk near the pony, this is called ( assisted leading)

If you have a child that is abit older we can go by weight and height please enquire
