About Cave of The Mounds - National Natural Landmark
Over millions of years ago, deep under the ground, our cave began to form. Water gradually dissolved the rock to create the cavity we know as the cave. Today water drips into the cave bringing with it dissolved crystals that fuse together to form intricate and varied shapes. While in the cave you will pass a variety of colorful cave formations. Tour guides will point out important features of our cave and answer questions about the history and science of our beautiful cave.

Booking Policy for Cave of the Mounds
Reservations and Payments
Advanced reservations are recommended to secure your preferred date. Times are subject to change depending on tour times per season. Payments for online bookings are due in full at the time of reservation. Walk-in visitors are subject to availability and wait time may be longer than those who reserved in advance.
Cancellations and Rescheduling Individual Tickets: All sales final. Tickets are non-refundable but are transferrable to store credit for up to a year if changed at least 3 hours prior to close.
Group Bookings (20 or more): All sales final. Deposits are non-refundable, but are transferrable to store credit for up to a year if changed at least 3 hours prior to close.
Rescheduling requests are subject to availability and must be made within the same timeframe as cancellations.
Weather and Emergency Policy Cave tours operate rain or shine. However, in the event of severe weather or emergencies, Cave of the Mounds reserves the right to cancel or reschedule tours. Full refunds or rescheduling options will be provided in these cases.
Accessibility Certain areas of the cave may not be accessible to all visitors due to natural terrain. Please review accessibility details prior to booking and contact us with any concerns.
Special Events and Promotions Tickets for special events are non-refundable but may be transferred to another person if you are unable to attend.
Gift Certificates for tickets
Gift certificates are non-refundable and can be redeemed for tickets only. Call us if you wish to purchase a gift certificate for use in our Rock, Fossil, & Gift shops!
Code of Conduct Visitors must adhere to Cave of the Mounds’ guidelines for safety and respect. Failure to comply may result in removal from the premises without a refund.
