Stroll through this geologic wonder in Wisconsin. Daily Tours are available 7 days a week departing frequently with the last entry at 4pm. Your walk will guide you past a stunning array of colorful crystal formations on paved lighted stairs and walkways. A tour guide will share the history and science and answer questions for you at key spots throughout the Cave. Visitors enjoy the Cave’s constant 50-degree temperature year-round which feels cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This gentle stroll is fun for all ages, so whether you’re a curious tourist or a budding cave enthusiast, Cave of the Mounds has something for everyone to discover. All tour times are assigned on arrival and are subject to change based on season.  Optional Add-On - Rent a Black Light A fun addition to any tour! The cave is well lit and flashlights are not needed. Black lights use ultraviolet light make some of the minerals in the cave "glow". A $12 nonrefundable rental fee for use of a black light during cave tour. Photo ID needed during rental time. Black lights should not be pointed at or near anyone's eyes. Not recommended for small children.

Come along kids and adults alike and join us for our annual Halloween event! This year, we are excited to announce our new i-SPY Blacklight Scavenger Hunt alongside our Trick-or-Treating event!  From October 1st to November 1st i-SPY Blacklight Scavenger Hunt Oh, no! Mischievous creatures are hidden throughout the cave! Pumpkins and ghosts are scattered among the rocks.  Join us for a spooky scavenger hunt to help us find them! The i-SPY Scavenger Hunt is available on every tour, every day for an additional $2 on top of a large ($12) or small ($8) blacklight rental. Guests hunt for special glowing images on rocks inside the cave during their tour. Trick-or-Treat - Sugar Free Enjoy some sugarless fun as you tour the underground with our (not so) ghoulish guides. Special trick-or-treat stations in the cave allow participating guests to take a few of our favorite rocks and crystals home with them. Anyone, big or small, can join us for this year’s Halloween event for just $3 extra with their cave ticket! Guests will also receive a mesh bag to carry their sugar-free treats in. November Theme Weeks at Cave of the Mounds - Each week brings a new prehistoric adventure! For just $3, purchase a specimen bag on your tour and collect fossils and treasures that match the week’s theme — from dinosaurs to sharks to the ancient sea that formed the cave itself. Shark Week  11/1 - 11/7  Exciting blend of geology and paleontology! Dive into the ancient past and discover the fascinating connection between the cave and the prehistoric oceans that once covered the region. Mission Ordovician Week 11/8 - 11/14   We'll take you on a journey back in time to explore life on Earth over 450 million years ago!  Dino Week 11/15 - 11/21     You’ll learn about the fascinating connections between the cave’s geology and the time of these mighty creatures.

Experience the Magic of "Cave of Lights"  As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, Cave of the Mounds invites you to celebrate the season underground. Beginning November 28th through January 31st, visitors can experience the magic of the holidays like never before, with beautiful light displays illuminating parts of the cave’s unique formations. The highlight of the event will be the breathtaking High Tunnel, where twinkling lights will cascade down from the high ceiling, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable holiday photo. This enchanting experience will be part of every cave tour in December & January, offering guests the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Cave of the Mounds while enjoying a festive twist. "Cave of Lights" provides a delightful escape from the cold winter weather, with the cave’s constant 50-degree temperature providing a cozy, comfortable environment for visitors of all ages. Tours will run daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, with the last entry at 4 PM. Please note that Cave of the Mounds will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Additional events this holiday season will include Caroling in the Cave, Cave & Cocktails, and our popular Cave After Dark: Holiday Cocktails. Brand New this year is a Scavenger Hunt.
