Nature Nymphs

Overview

What is involved?
Nature Nymphs is a parent/ guardian ‘Stay and Play’ session designed for children aged up to 5 years old and an be enjoyed whatever the weather! Please note -this session is designed so that children of any age must be supervised at all times by a parent/guardian/carer/childminder.

Sessions will run on set days during term weeks, and more regularly during half term holidays. Each session is 90 minutes in duration, with a short amount of time at the end for tidying up.

Each parent/guardians/carer can attend with up to three children, but please only book these tickets for children that you are solely responsible for the duration of the session. Siblings-in-arms can attend for free.

Who is there?
The sessions are facilitated by Jo, our very experienced and qualified Forest School Leader and complete Nature Lover -  a biophilliac through and through!

Jo will oversee and guide you safely through the whole session, providing you time to join in the fun with your children. This is a child-led environment which stimulates the curious and inquisitive, and encourages the cautious. Set in our beautiful Dragonfly Centre, this is an easily accessible, safe part of our woodland that is completely enclosed but gives the impression of being free in the woods.

How much is it?
Prices start from £9.00 per child per session - this includes all materials and a tasty forest snack. There are discounts for more than one child (we insist that a parent/guardian/carer is solely responsible for all their attending children for the duration of the session).

We also offer discounts if you book 6 or more sessions at once -contact us for details

What will we do?
Our site is perfect for little ones to come and explore and build confidence in an outdoor setting and is part of our desire to connect people of all ages and abilities with the natural world; to better understand their place within it, and to play their part in shaping its future.

Activities and resources will be available for sessions and there will always be a super yummy fire pit forest school snack each session.  Over the weeks, children will have the opportunity to build on various Forest School related skills too, including risky play, fire and tool work.

‘Nature Nymphs’ is a learner centred approach, letting children lead in their own learning journey.  Encouraging and supporting new skills, giving children play choices, exploration in nature and enabling children to explore their own interest and of course have plenty fun! This in turn  helps them to form a strong bond, relationship, and develop an awareness, respect  and caring attachment with nature.

What clothing shall we wear?
Please dress appropriately for the weather on the day as we will run sessions come rain or shine! It is highly recommended to dress your child in old/play clothes as they may get stained.

Cold weather - Layers are the best way to stay warm.  Play clothes, fleece, waterproofs, hat and wellies will keep you dry as well.

Warm weather - Play clothes, sunhat, suncream, play shoes or wellies.

Spare clothes are a good idea, as they will most likley be wet/muddy/messy (all three if you are lucky!). A towel or blanket is advisable for the journey home as well.

Where is it?
Lanjeth Nursery and Water Gardens extends over 13 acres and includes woodlands, wetlands and over 130 ponds and lakes. It is simply a stunning site! The forest and pond school is held in our 'Dragonfly Centre'.

Toilets?
We have a fully accessible toilet in the main car park, which also has baby changing facilities. There is a camping style toilet in the Dragonfly Centre for child emergencies!
