First Wednesday of the Month, 1-3pm. Put on your dancing shoes and join us for a delightful afternoon of music, dancing and companionship at Ushaw! Set within the beautiful surroundings of the Refectory, our Tea Dances are the perfect way to enjoy a relaxing afternoon filled with music, movement and good company. The tea dances will begin at 1pm, please arrive from 12:30pm where tea and coffee will be served. Tickets are free for those living in the following postcodes: All DH postcodes DL13, DL14, DL15, DL16, DL17 Those living outside the above postcode areas, can still purchase tickets for a small fee (admission is not required for this activity).  We will be running a minibus around the local villages of Ushaw to pick up anyone who would like to attend but doesn't have access to transport. Wednesday 7 October 2026.  Come and get involved at Ushaw, through our volunteer and community events programme! Looking for something to fill your spare time? Come and be part of our wonderful community by volunteering at Ushaw. Find out more about volunteering and get to take part in engaging activities, including a tour of Ushaw’s magnificent chapels, a walk through our wonderful gardens, opportunities to talk with our friendly and welcoming volunteer team, delve into Ushaw’s history with our heritage team and get crafty with our engagement team. The day will also involve Book and Textile Conservation and Volunteering with the Visitor Engagement Team, as well as being a place where any questions about volunteering can be asked. Including free teas, coffees and light refreshments.

Saturday 5 December 2026.  You’re warmly invited to an inclusive, fun and family-friendly afternoon of Christmas music, set in the stunning surroundings of St Cuthbert’s Chapel.  This special event will showcase Ushaw’s much-loved dementia-friendly choir, ‘Forget Me Notes’.  Look forward to uplifting performances, festive sing-alongs and a wonderfully seasonal atmosphere. Song sheets and instruments will be available, and everyone is welcome to take part—sing, play, or simply enjoy the music. Tickets to the concert are Pay As You Wish. For a festive day out exploring our House, Chapels & Gardens, a Day Pass or Membership is required.

Sun 13 December 2026.  Join us for a beautiful and uplifting Christmas Service in the breathtaking surroundings of St Cuthbert’s Chapel. The service will feature a programme of traditional readings and much-loved carols, brought to life by the wonderful voices of Ushaw Chapel Choir. With moments for reflection alongside festive music, it offers a meaningful and memorable way to celebrate the Christmas season. All are warmly welcome to attend, whether to sing, listen, reflect or simply enjoy the beautiful setting and atmosphere of this special occasion. Entry to the service is free, with a retiring collection. For a festive day out exploring our House, Chapels & Gardens, a Day Pass or Membership is required.
