A one day map reading course for beginners based in the Lake District. If you have never looked at a map or would be unsure about planning and following a route along paths and tracks, then this is the course for you. You will be amazed how much detail there is on an Ordnance Survey map and we will teach you how to make the most of it all. If you have never tried rock climbing outside before come along on this one day course and we will show you why we love it! This course is ideal for anyone who has never climbed or has only climbed indoors. You will have the opportunity to try a number of climbs on real rock, learn the basics of rock climbing and experience the thrill of abseiling. ItineraryOn this one day rock climbing course you will have the opportunity to try a number of different climbs which can be as hard or as easy as you like. We will also show you how to tie onto the rope correctly and how to ‘belay’ (i.e. hold the rope while someone else climbs and lower them back down again.)
