Two Day Wilderness Escape with Green Man Survival

Two Day Wilderness Escape with Green Man Survival

Pack your clothes along with your sense of adventure and escape for a couple of days to the woods on this fully catered, immersive experience, with some wild camping accommodation thrown in. You may be learning some survival skills, but don’t be fooled, this is wilderness luxury… well, almost!! We will meet you at 9am on the morning of the first day and give you a tour of our 45 acre private woodland site. Drop your luggage at your accommodation for the weekend and have a quick look around your very own slice of wilderness paradise, on the shores of Windermere lake. Our 6 man Klondike tent is something to behold!  Our day will begin with a bushcraft fire lighting session at base camp, the kettle won't boil itself you know. Now you will get the opportunity to learn how to light fire from sparks and where to collect dry materials to cook up a right bit of bush tucker! It won't be long until the air is full of the aroma of wood smoke and lunch is round the corner.  It's time to get cooking. We hope you skipped breakfast! Stuffed bannock is a staple on all our wilderness trips. Imagine the best fresh bread toasty cooked over a campfire. With a selection of fillings, you can create your own; don't worry about food envy, it's a tear and share kinda deal.  Once we have recovered from our log fire lunch it's time to bring out the bows and arrows and learn the ancient skill of archery. Forget that dusty old archery session you did before. Our field archery range is a real challenge and will have you shooting loads of targets at a range of distances throughout the woods.  After a well earned brew and s’more, it's time to get the rifle out and put that aim to the test. Once you have your eye in, Jungle Lane is waiting. Here we have stacks of targets all over the woods to hunt and hit with your sniper rifle.  Well, that sounds exhausting! Maybe a bit of downtime is needed at your tipi or a wander to the lake before dinner.  Sitting around the campfire enjoying a hearty meal is something we should all do at least once! With the lantern glowing and the fire crackling we can share tales of adventures and listen to the woods wind down for the night. We have another action packed day tomorrow so our beds are calling.  Rise and shine for a hearty cooked breakfast around the fire with tea and coffee galore. Cereals, fruit and juices are all on offer so get charged up and ready for another day full of adventures.  Walking through the woods after breakfast is a bit like reading the morning newspaper. We get the opportunity to see what was happening while we were dreaming of more adventures. Following animal tracks and seeing who was about is a mystery many never observe. Our wanders go in many directions, both geographically and educationally. It all depends on what we see!  After a bit of a stone skimming competition it’s time to get that fire crackling again and a brew on for our morning of whittling and carving. Here you can have a crack at making spoons and learning loads of survival notches for hanging pots and making traps. Your knife is your life out here and using it safely and efficiently is fundamental.  A forest feast awaits! Time to get cooking again and fuelled up for our afternoon hike.   After lunch it's time to get packed up, say goodbye to your camp, and run for the hills!  Our afternoon hike will take us to one of the Lake District’s very best viewpoints, Gummer’s How, with a spectacular rocky summit and one of the best vistas of the entire South Lakeland mountains. We will then head through some of the area's most stunning ancient woodland. Here we will really get to grips with tree ID and foraging. You can also learn some navigation with map and compass and if you're really lucky, see red kites, roe and red deer, foxes and even the rarest of all, the bobble hatted rambler.  All good things must come to an end. With tired legs we will arrive back at our cars and depart for home. An experience to remember, with tales to tell and loads of new skills under your belt, oh and maybe a few extra pounds from all the bannock! ---  All our experiences are offered on a private booking basis for you and your group, and you have complete flexibility to choose your own date for your experience. The Bowman - A family friendly woodland archery experience with Green Man Survival

Join Green Man Survival in our private woodland on the shores of Windermere to discover the ancient art of archery. We will learn a little about the history of this primitive skill and have the chance to experience how tricky it must have been for our ancestors to survive and thrive with only a few sticks to get their meal.  Humans have been chucking arrows for nearly 70,000 years, it’s basically in our DNA! Over the course of your experience we will really get to grips with this ancient art and its importance in our history of survival. We will start on our custom built archery range where with a little practice you will be hitting the target and really honing your aim and form.  With a bit more practice on the range and learning about judging distance and shooting over rough ground it’s time to head out on the hunt. Don't worry, these animals are only paper and if you would prefer we can swap them for standard archery targets.  The “Primitive Pathway'' is a woodland walk with a difference as we have numerous targets hidden away all over the place! Some are close, some are far and you may well be surprised who you meet on the trail. As we return we have one last challenge for you and if necessary this may well be the decider on who is the new Robin Hood of the Lakes!  --- All our experiences are offered on a private booking basis for you and your group, and you have complete flexibility to choose your own date for your experience. The Woodsman’s Walk - A full day guided walk in South Lakes with Green Man Survival

The Woodsman’s Walk - A full day guided walk in South Lakes with Green Man Survival

Join us on a guided day out on one of our favourite walks, an off-the-beaten-track route far from the crowds that flock to the Lake District but still ensconced within the National Park. Our day’s walk will take us through the ancient woodland of Witherslack estate; this 2000 acre estate comprises the largest area of semi-natural woodland in Cumbria. The lofty limestone heights of Whitbarrow Scar dominate the skyline and will provide an impressive vista of Morecambe Bay and Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve. Meandering through the estate this stunning journey allows us the opportunity to learn and observe coppiced areas of woodland where charcoal was once made by the old “Bodgers”, experience the tranquillity of historical damson orchards and see evidence of red and roe deer who also use the trails, along with a plethora of native flora and fauna. We will as always embrace the opportunity to share our knowledge of the woods and its secrets with you wherever possible. We will explore the limestone pavements of Whitbarrow Scar learning about clinks and grykes and this fascinating glacial geology. Also, the trees grow sideways up here! Local history and the surrounding environment will be discussed with many opportunities to ask questions and discuss the vast subject of survival, bushcraft and our favourite place to be, the woods. The Woodsman’s Walk comprises some steep climbs but is generally a low-level walk, covering a total distance of approximately 15km. A reasonable level of physical fitness is desirable. Bring your lunch, boots, waterproofs and a sense of discovery! --- All our experiences are offered on a private booking basis for you and your group, and you have complete flexibility to choose your own date for your experience. The minimum requirement is two adult tickets when booking this private activity.
