Your trip leaves from Bathampton and follows the canal around the edge of Bathampton Down. Fairly soon the canal is travelling along the side of the hill with views towards Bathford and over the valley of the River Avon. We reach Brassknocker Basin, the junction with the old Somerset Coal Canal, just before the canal crosses the river on Dundas Aqueduct. There may be time for passengers to disembark briefly to look at the aqueduct before we start our return journey to Bathampton. Occasionally, if the canal is very busy, the trip will take longer than 2½ hours.

The Sir John Knill is a modern solar-powered trip boat that can take up to twelve passengers (we have space for a maximum of one person in a wheelchair). Passengers can board and disembark using a ramp. SJK is a waterbus (unlike the KACT's larger trip boats), so there is only a very small toilet on board that would not suitable for many disabled people. We provide a limited range of pre-packaged refreshments, but you are very welcome to bring your own food and drink. Dogs (other than assistance dogs) are carried at the discretion of the Skipper. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Please leave pushchairs in your car if possible.
