LEARN ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE TRIMONTIUM ROMAN FORT & THE NATIVE IRON AGE  OF THE SCOTTISH BORDERS Probably the finest collection of Roman military objects anywhere in Britannia!  Dating back to the first major invasion into the North in 79AD, Trimontium was a cavalry fort, with anywhere between 1500-3000 soldiers behind its huge walls and layers of defensive ditches. The museum tells the story of the people who lived and worked at the fort, through the fascinating items they left behind, as well as the stories of those whose landscape was invaded. Using interactive screens, audio visuals and a wealth of some of the finest artefacts, discover a tales of two peoples determined to claim the beautiful Borders countryside as their own. YOUR VISIT The museum is fully accessible and seating is available on request. We have lots of activities for children, included in the admission ticket. YOUR TICKET Tickets are valid for return visits to the museum for 12 months from date of purchase. You can exchange your booking confirmation for an annual pass card at the museum. If you are a UK Tax Payer, please consider agreeing to Gift Aid your ticket , at no extra cost to you, to allow us to claim 25p in every £1 to support the work of the Trust.  BOOKING FEES There is a small booking fee applicable to all online tickets. Through a combination of immersive VR technologies and our extensive collection of Roman and native Iron Age objects, we've created this unique experience just for you. Place our VR set on your head and be transported back 2000 years and more, before the Romans even arrived in the Borders. Learn more about the story of our native peoples and what brought the Romans to their lands. Then enter through the mighty doors to the Trimontium Fort and see what lies behind.... Booking in advance is highly recommended as daily spaces are very limited. Your ticket also includes entry to gallery so there is no need to buy a separate ticket for a museum visit.
