Overview
Greens Bayou Paddling Trail:
Paddle a 7.7‑mile stretch of Greens Bayou—an unexpectedly quiet, wooded “hidden gem” right inside urban Houston. The water is generally wide and smooth with coves and tributaries to explore, and the full route typically takes 2–3.5 hours (shorter segments can be done in 1–1.5 hours). It’s suitable for all levels, with three maintained park launches and good chances to see herons, turtles, fish, and occasionally bald eagles and alligators—this is also the course of the Greens Bayou Regatta (early October).
Access points:
Important note:
Because banks are steep/overgrown, plan to take out only at the designated launches (bank exits are difficult).
