Enjoy a fun filled session on a stand-up paddle board with all your friends and family. Whether it’s a party of friends or you want to test your skills then a group session is the one for you.  How much is a group session? Depends on how many people are attending the group session. Having an instructor ensures safety, confidence, and reassurance that everybody is safe. Those who may struggle will have an opportunity to be taught within the session.  Starting from the Hollingwood Hub on the Chesterfield Canal the instructor will provide all safety equipment, including buoyancy aids and dry bags for those items you want to keep dry.  What is the layout of a group session?  You meet your instructor where they will brief you and provide all necessary equipment for the session.  Once briefed, they will outline how to get on the water and to control your craft in a safe manner. On the water the instructor will teach everybody how to control the craft and to stand up and safely get back onto the craft. And then either do a journey, games, skills or challenges.  All of our paddle sport instructors are qualified and insured to take groups on the canal or an alternative destination upon request.  What we provide: Equipment we will provide will be the Stand Up Paddleboard, Paddle, Licence fee to be on the water at the location. Buoyancy aid and a wealth of knowledge.  This will be available to all ages from age 7 and above. Experience the fundamentals of Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP). Learn the joys that made Stand Up Paddleboarding popular. Location: At Hollingwood Hub there is a Coffee Shop and limited spaces to get changed. The car park is open from 09:30-4pm.   Course Content: We will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills to enable you to get on the water safely and make your boat move in all directions, with fun and games along the way.  Minimum participation for each course is 2 participants.  After the session you will have gained your Paddle UK Paddle Start Award (and E-Certificate on request). The skills learnt in the session will make you feel safe and confident when out on the water. Paddle start award consist of: Clothing and equipment information, think of it like a crash course in everything you need to physically get yourself on the water, covering all the types of equipment you’ll need. Tips for getting on the water including how to get safely in and out of your canoe, kayak or SUP from different places you are likely to paddle. Learn to paddle with practical skills such as paddling forward, turning and stopping … pretty much everything you need to get started and moving. Staying safe on and off the water, you’ll learn about how to stay safe and make the most out of your paddle session. Medication.  Layout of the session We will be looking at the paddleboard in detail naming all the different elements of the craft, what to lookout for when buying one for yourself.  Then, after a warm up and a chat about safety, we head out on the canal to learn all the skills required to become a successful paddler. Skills learnt will be to help you control your paddleboard in open spaces and confined places. Group Canoe Sessions Enjoy a fun-filled session on the water with your friends, family, or group. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, planning a day out with friends, or simply looking to test your paddling skills, our group canoe sessions are a great way to get active and enjoy the outdoors together. How Much Does a Group Session Cost? The price of a group session depends on the number of people attending. Please contact us for a quote based on your group size. All sessions are led by a qualified instructor, ensuring safety, confidence, and support throughout the activity. Anyone who needs extra help will have the opportunity to learn new skills during the session. Location Sessions usually start at Tapton Lock on the Chesterfield Canal, where your instructor will meet you. All safety equipment will be provided, including buoyancy aids and dry bags for any personal items you want to keep dry. Alternative locations may be arranged upon request. Please be aware there are  no changing facilities at tapton loch.  What Happens During a Session? When you arrive, your instructor will welcome the group and provide a safety briefing along with all necessary equipment. You will then learn: How to safely get onto the water How to control and steer your craft How to stand up on the craft and safely get back on if you fall in Once everyone is comfortable on the water, the session can include: A guided journey along the canal Fun games and challenges Skill development activities Our goal is to ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience on the water. Our Instructors All of our paddle sport instructors are fully qualified and insured to lead group sessions on the canal or at alternative approved locations. What We Provide Your session includes: Canoe Paddle Licence fee to use the waterway Buoyancy aid Expert instruction and guidance Age Requirements Group sessions are available for ages 7 and above.
