Class participants should expect to come away with a deepened appreciation of working with acrylic paint, composition, color, and navigating their own artistic lane, honing their style, as well as practice in group critique!

Sit around the table with Farmer Jen and/or our Garden Manager Adeline for an informal but very informational lesson! A lot of these workshops go hand-in hand with each other, so don’t miss out! Schedule: Canning 101 September 13 Preserve the flavors of the season in this beginner-friendly canning class. Participants will learn the basics of safe water bath and pressure canning, including selecting produce, preparing jars, processing techniques, and proper storage. We’ll cover common pitfalls, tips for successful preservation, and ways to enjoy your canned goods long after harvest. Perfect for beginners, home cooks, and anyone interested in extending the bounty of their garden or local farm produce. Seed Saving September 27 Learn how to preserve the next season’s garden by mastering the art of seed saving. In this hands-on class, participants will explore which seeds are best to save, proper harvesting techniques, cleaning and drying seeds, and storage methods to maintain viability. We’ll also cover the basics of plant genetics, crop rotation considerations, and tips for selecting the healthiest seeds to ensure strong future harvests. Container Planting October 4 Bring your garden to any space with this hands-on container planting class. Participants will learn how to choose the right containers, select suitable plants, and create thriving arrangements for patios, balconies, or small gardens. We’ll cover soil mixes, watering techniques, plant placement, and seasonal care tips to help your container garden flourish. Natural Dyes & Methods October 18 Explore the colorful world of natural dyes in this hands-on workshop. Participants will learn how to extract pigments from plants, flowers, and other natural materials, and use them to create vibrant colors on fibers, fabrics, and yarns. We’ll cover basic techniques, including mordanting, color layering, and safe handling of natural dye materials, as well as tips for experimenting with seasonal plant sources. Goat Milking Basics October 25 Learn the fundamentals of milking goats in this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop. Participants will explore proper milking techniques, goat anatomy, hygiene and sanitation practices, and how to handle goats safely and comfortably during milking. We’ll also cover basic equipment, storage, and simple ways to use fresh milk at home. Perfect for new goat owners, homesteaders, and anyone curious about small-scale dairy practices and connecting with their animals. Apple Cider Press November 1 Experience the joy of turning fresh apples into delicious cider in this hands-on workshop. Participants will learn how to select apples, prepare and press them, and safely collect and enjoy the fresh juice. We’ll cover traditional pressing techniques, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and tips for experimenting with different apple varieties and flavor combinations. Winterizing Animal Enclosures November 15 Prepare your animals for the cold season in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop. Participants will learn how to properly winterize coops, pens, and shelters to keep livestock safe, warm, and healthy during winter months. We’ll cover insulation, bedding, wind protection, water and feeding strategies, and other practical tips for maintaining animal comfort and wellbeing.
