Join us at River & Root for a 45-minute, child-led process art class hosted by Philly Art Center - Cherry Hill! Designed for little artists ages 18 months–3 years, each class invites children to explore a variety of art materials, tools, textures, and techniques through open-ended projects that expand your kiddos skills, curiosity and creative decision making.
Open-ended exploration lays the foundation for out-of-the-box thinking. This class focuses on the process: mixing, painting, stamping, building, experimenting, and discovering what happens along the way. Children are encouraged to make their own choices, follow their curiosity, and create at their own pace.
These playful art experiences support fine motor development, coordination, confidence, self-expression, social connection, and creative thinking. Grown-ups are invited to create alongside their little ones while giving them plenty of space to lead the way.
Each week brings something new to explore, plenty of opportunities to get hands-on, and a welcoming space where there’s no right or wrong way to make art!
Class Structure (Play + Learn)
- Class runs from 10:15AM-11:00AM
- Open Play: Families are welcome to stay following the class and enjoy our Montessori-inspired play space until 11:30AM. This extended time allows little ones to explore while caregivers connect, unwind, and build community with others in a similar season of life.

Your registration covers the full 75-minute experience.
While families are welcome to stay and play after class, you’re also free to head out if that better fits your day.
Instructor
Evie Vanaman has been teaching at the Philly Art Center in Cherry Hill for the past two years. Born and raised in South Jersey and a Rowan University graduate, she studied Studio Art and loves exploring all kinds of creative mediums. Metalworking is her favorite, especially making jewelry and keychains! When she’s not making art, you can find Evie biking, hiking, camping, or enjoying the great outdoors.
Class Cancellation & Modification Policy
Class reservations may be moved to another date of the same class up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time, subject to availability. Because our educators prepare materials based on enrollment, class reservations are non-refundable and normally cannot be transferred within 24 hours of class.
If your child becomes ill within the 24-hour window, please contact us before class begins. We never want families to attend while sick, and when possible, we’ll offer a one-time make-up in the same class series, subject to availability. No-shows are not eligible for a credit or transfer. If River & Root or the instructor cancels a class, families will receive the option to transfer, receive a credit, or receive a refund.
