The Hall will be open by free guided tour only on Heritage Open Days this year. Enjoy a 1 hour 15 minute tour of the main areas of the house including the Victorian Dining Room, the impressive library, the bedroom suites, the double-height High Room and the homely Drawing Room. Our expert guides will tell you the story of the Isham family from 1560-1976 as well as explaining the architectural changes to the hall through the centuries and touching on highlights of the painting and furniture collection which remains largely intact. Tours are strictly pre-booked only on the hour, every hour from 10am-2pm. The gardens will be open 10am-4pm for you to explore alongside your entry to the house. There will also be a small exhibition on the everyday histories of the family and local people who called Lamport and Hanging Houghton home or worked at the Hall. There will be a display of artwork by Northants and Rutland artists to browse too. The cafe will be open from 9:30am-4pm and the gift shop is open 10am-3pm.

Friday 11th September, 10am-4pmThe gardens will be open for free and available for all to explore. Pre-booking isn't essential but will give us an idea of the numbers to expect for planning purposes.There will be a small exhibition exploring the Everyday Histories of Lamport Hall as well as the surrounding villages of Lamport and Hanging Houghton. The exhibition will focus on the everyday lives of staff and villagers in the 19th century.The Hall will be open by free guided tour only and must be pre-booked in advance.There will also be a large exhibition of art by artists from Northamptonshire and Rutland. The cafe and gift shop will be open.

Northants & Rutland Open Studios will be doing a late night opening on the 18th of September for their Arty Bites event. This free entry event will be open from 6pm-9pm with a chance to browse over 500 original artworks for sale by local artists. But to really add to the after hours vibe there will also be street food, a bar selling soft drinks, cocktails, beer and fizz and live music. Art prices start from as little as £10 a piece so you may event go home with a new piece of art too.  No outside food or drink allowed please. Dogs on leads welcome.

Wilder Floral - Dried Autumn Wreath Workshop Join us this October to create your very own dried Autumn wreath! Working on a straw base with some of the most beautiful dried flowers in Autumnal colours and textures. We'll teach you everything you need to know to build your wreath from scratch as well as giving you handy tips and tricks on drying your own flowers and how to get the most out of your garden throughout the seasons! All materials supplied but please do bring your own scissors/secateurs, gloves and apron to protect your clothes. Please also feel free to bring any dried materials you have if you'd like to learn how to include them from your own garden! We are so excited to teach you how to create one of our signature Wilder wreaths this October.

For Sally's workshops in June and July, she is trying something different. Rather than a workshop making something specific, she is going to run a 3 hour workshop in June and a 5 hour workshop in July where you will be able to choose what you make from the list provided. Ideal for those coming with a friend but you both want to make something different. Both workshops are suitable for beginners and those with more experience and the small group size of 8 means everyone gets the attention and help they need to make a beautiful piece of glass. In Conversation with Levison Wood   Thursday 15 October 2026 6.30pm – 8.30pm   Lamport Hall are excited to host an evening with world renowned explorer, writer & photographer, Levison Wood.  His ten critically acclaimed television series have been broadcast around the world, and he is the author of twelve best-selling books.   At this event he'll be talking about his latest book The Great Tree Story, exploring how forests have shaped our world, as well as talking about his adventures and documentaries.   Levison was a Major in the British Army having served in the Parachute Regiment for 13 years. He is the Chancellor of Staffordshire University, an elected Fellow of both the Royal Geographical Society and the Explorers Club. An Evening of Ghost Stories  A one-man performance by Toby Burchell  “…this horror was bounding like a tiger at his heels, with blazing eyes and one stringy arm out thrown.”  Join Behind the Door Productions for ‘An Evening of 'Ghost Stories’ at Lamport Hall.  ACT 1: In Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story, ‘The Signalman’, we follow a railway signalman who keeps watch over a damp, and gloomy railway cutting. Upon questioning, he reveals that he has been haunted by spectral warnings of impending train disasters.  ACT 2: In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s ‘Lot No. 249’, we follow Abercrombie Smith, a student who investigates a series of supernatural occurrences linked to his neighbour, Edward Bellingham. Edward, an Oxford student, holds possession of an ancient Egyptian mummy which he appears to have been using to stalk his enemies.  This is a candlelit performance taking place in Lamport Hall and will include both a matinee and evening performance. In this one-man performance, Toby Burchell performs two chilling tales by the finest writers of the ghost story genre. Originally narrated as entertainments for friends, these are the perfect traditional ghost stories  Behind the Door Productions was established in 2024 by Toby Burchell. Toby trained as an actor and worked professionally for many years touring both nationally and internationally. He has also worked extensively with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and Malvern Theatres' Stage Company as an actor, director and facilitator.  The production is 1 hour 20 mins with no interval.  Doors open at 3pm for a 3:30pm for the matinee and 7pm for a 7:30pm start for the evening performance.

Standing In The Wings – Let Us Read You a Story - Halloween Special  Thursday 22nd October & Thursday 29th October, 11am-12pm Standing In The Wings brings words to life through warm, engaging stories and poem readings that make you feel as though you’re part of the tale. From beloved classics to hidden gems, every session is a shared moment of imagination, connection and the simple joy of being read to and transported to the magical land of make believe.  Come down to our magical woodland summer house to read spooky and Halloween themed stories suitable for all ages. Price includes a spooky themed sweet treat. £4 per child, £3 for additional siblings, under 1s and over 11s free. Recommended for ages 0-11.

Abstract Trees and Snowflake Tree Decoration Workshop  7th & 13th November, 10:30am-1pm, £50   In this workshop Sally will guide you through making Abstract Tree and Snowflake tree decorations. You will have access to a wide choice of colours in both transparent and opaque glass and Sally will teach you how to cut glass and guide you through making your ornaments. You will have access all the tools and safety equipment necessary to make your beautiful decorations. Most people should be able to make 3 tree decorations during the workshop, for very fast workers additional decorations will be charged at £4 each to cover the cost of materials and firing in the kiln. After the workshop your creations will be taken to Sally’s studio where they will be fired in her kiln.  They will be ready within 14 days of the workshop and can be collected from Lamport Hall or posted out to you for the cost of the postage. Most people should be able to make 2 tree decorations during the workshop, for very fast workers additional decorations will be charged at £6 each to cover the cost of materials and firing in the kiln. Suitable for all abilities. Old clothes are recommended. Please do not wear open toed shoes.

Please do not wear open toed shoes. About the Tutor After a 36 year career in Local Government Sally thought it was time to try something new. She loves to be creative and wanted to do something that would combine her creativity with her geeky technical side. Sally has always loved glass, particularly the reflections you get from the sun shining through garden art and after attending a couple of basic glass fusing courses she bought her first kiln in 2019. There are so many things to make, different techniques to learn, firing schedules to understand - the possibilities for experimentation are endless. Sally loves teaching workshops, they are always relaxed and fun and she encourages everyone to come up with their own designs. She particularly enjoys working with people who say they are not artistic or creative because they always surprise themselves by creating something beautiful.

They will then be called up individually, or as a family, to have a photo and receive their personalised nice certificate and wrapped present. The Tudor House session will last approximately 20 minutes. Children will visit Father Christmas in groups of 8.  A ticket includes entry for a child and one adult per child to the Christmas Market including over 100 stalls, festive food, an indoor heated bar, live music and roaming entertainers.
