Our guided walk in Glen Nevis is a relaxed, off-the-beaten-track wander along the River Nevis, with plenty of stories and beautiful scenery! We’ll take our time, enjoy the fresh air, and share the stories that make Glen Nevis such a special place. Whether you're here for the hills, the Highland cows, or just the peace and quiet — we’d love to walk with you. Glen Nevis is steeped in history and natural beauty — framed by towering mountains, ancient woodland, and sparkling water. As we walk, you’ll hear tales of the glen’s past, spot some wildlife, and discover the film locations of Hollywood favourites like Braveheart, Highlander, and Harry Potter.  Best of all, the proceeds from your booking go directly towards our ongoing nature restoration work in Glen Nevis. 🐮 Meet Our Highland Cattle herd We’ll visit our Fold of Highland Cattle and we will tell you all you would like to know about them. 📍 Meeting Point The walk begins in the field on your left-hand side, around 150–200 metres beyond the cattle grid on the Glen Nevis Road in Fort William. You can use this Google dropped pin to find your way. 🥾 Know Before You Book Duration: Approx. 2 hours Terrain: Mostly off-track with some rough ground — a reasonable level of fitness is needed Footwear: Sturdy boots or wellies are essential (it can be muddy!) Clothing: Come dressed for changeable Highland weather — warm layers and waterproofs recommended Ticks: We’ll walk through long grass, so long trousers are advised Midges: May to September can bring them out — you might want to bring repellent just in case Age: Suitable for ages 8+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult) No dogs – we’ll be walking through areas grazed by cattle and sheep No toilet facilities at the start or along the route This experience is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Please be aware, a 'safe distance' will always need to be maintained between you and the cows. The 'safe distance' varies from cow-to-cow and from day-to-day. Our experienced rangers will guide you in how close you can safely get on your experience. Sorry, you cannot 'hug a cow'. You'll join one of our experienced herders for a 45 minute visit to meet a few members of our herd and learn what life’s like for these shaggy beasts. 🎣 River Nevis Fishing Experience Season: 15th April – 30th September Fishing Days: Monday to Saturday Fishing Hours: 9:00 am – 7:30 pm Enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the River Nevis with a day’s fishing on this scenic Highland river. The river offers an opportunity to fish for Salmon and Sea Trout, with all angling operated on a Catch & Release basis to support conservation. What’s included: ✅ River Nevis Fishing Permit ✅ Access to designated fishing areas along the river ✅ Full Catch & Release guidance provided Key Information: 🎣 Fly or worm fishing only (barbless hooks preferred; treble hooks not permitted) 🎣 Catch & Release required — please handle fish with care (guidance will be provided) 🎣 Permits must be carried at all times while fishing 🎣 Please report all catches or any issues to Reception (01397 705 181) Important Notes: Fishing equipment and waders used abroad must be disinfected before use to prevent the spread of Gyrodactylus salaris.
